Chore Dash is a chores-and-allowance app run by parents. Kids earn all week, the Sunday reset pays it out, and goals show how close the prize is. Here's help with the common questions.
Do I need an account?
No. There's no sign-up and no login. Everything lives on your device — there's no backend at all.
Setting up chores
Open the Chores tab and add each child's jobs, choosing daily or weekly for each. A chore earns one of two ways: allowance chores share the child's weekly allowance pot, and fixed-rate chores pay their own set rate per completion. A child can have a mix of both.
When does money move?
Chore earnings move once a week, at the Sunday reset. Ticking a chore never pays on the spot — even a fixed-rate chore accrues toward Sunday. The Money tab always shows what's coming so there are no surprises.
The exception is money a parent types in directly: a deposit (pocket money from before the app, gift money, a one-off job) or a withdrawal (cash actually handed over). Those post immediately, because the money already moved in real life.
Running the Sunday reset
Open the Money tab and run the reset. It pays each child's week out as a single "weekly allowance" ledger entry, clears the completions, and starts the new week. It's manual on purpose — run it on the Sunday you get to it, and nothing is lost if it slips to Monday.
Goals
Each child can have one active goal — a savings target their whole balance climbs toward, with a "≈ N weeks to go" estimate based on what they usually earn. When the target's reached, use "withdraw and close" to record the hand-over: the goal's amount is withdrawn, anything saved past it stays with the child.
Fixing a mistyped entry
Delete the entry and re-enter it. Deleting cleanly undoes the amount, because a balance is always just the sum of the ledger. Only entries a parent typed (deposits and withdrawals) can be deleted — Sunday payouts stay put.
Why is the balance negative?
Because nothing stops you handing over more cash than the child has saved. The ledger records what actually happened, and the balance climbs back as they earn.
Deleting your data
Delete the app and its data is gone. There's no server-side copy anywhere.
